PR’s (Pastor Ray’s) Ponderings

August 30, 2010

 

            Nashville Presbytery met in a called meeting at the West Nashville CP Church last Tuesday to consider the request of the Woodbine and Tusculum churches to merge together. Elder Matt De Vries from Woodbine gave an informative slide presentation showing the history of the journey that Woodbine has been on for the last two years, and how Woodbine and Tusculum came together to reach this decision to merge. It is now official! Presbytery has approved the merger. Both churches have been working diligently over the last few months making plans for our first joint worship service at the South Campus – Tusculum CPC – Sunday, Sept 12. I know that Brother Ronnie has been keeping you abreast of all the activities that are planned for our future together.

 

We here at Woodbine are excited about what the future holds. We have been praying over the last two years for God to show us each next step. I want to share our prayer with you today: “Lord I know that you are going to do some incredible things in your world today. Thank you for giving Woodbine Cumberland Presbyterian Church the privilege of getting in on some of what you are doing.”

We have not asked God to bless what we are doing. Rather, we have been asking God to help us do what He is blessing. As we continue on this journey with you we know that God is leading us to do what He is blessing.

 

Many of our ministry teams/ committees have already been meeting together planning the future.  Members of the Woodbine Choir have been rehearsing with the Tusculum Choir for the last month. The men of Woodbine have been meeting with the Men’s Fellowship. The Women of Woodbine contributed baked goods for last week’s yard sale.  The pastoral staff of our two churches have been working together to insure a smooth transition to the new church body that is being formed.

 

Truly, God has been involved in this endeavor, and I believe we are experiencing the fulfillment of our prayer – “giving us the privilege of getting in on some of what God is doing.”  We here on the North Campus – Woodbine – are looking forward to an exciting and wonderful journey with you.   And always remember one important thing: God is good…ALL THE TIME!
