To develop an atmosphere where dynamic opportunities for Spiritual growth are expected and realized. To provide a template of service for all who come to know Christ through direction, study, and encouragement; ultimately allowing for greater spiritual maturity. To strengthen leadership through mentoring, knowledge, wisdom, and an understanding of their accountability to God and those whom they serve.
How does Our Journey work?
Our church realizes that many times we need to be able to find the “dot.” That is what this program was designed to do. Our Journey is a picture of our faith walk and our church. The Tusculum Church is not the buildings, it is the people.
Perhaps you just accepted Christ or desire too. Perhaps you have been a Christian for years but never figured out where you fit. Maybe you need a mentor or a deeper understanding of God’s word. Our Journey can help you find those answers and a fuller, more mature life in Christ.
You may have a very good idea where you need to enter this program, just by reading the headings. If, however, you need help, we would recommend beginning with Discovery.
When taking this journey, you may move from one area to the next or you may find that you need to move around. You should use this program to help you grow spiritually in what ever way you are led.
You may attend a Discovery class on spiritual gifts and find that you have the ability to develop a certain area of your life, that can be shared with others.
After you go out into ministry, you may discover that there are needs and skills that you have yet to develop. Our Two by Two team will assist you in finding someone who will mentor you and be a spiritual companion in your walk and ministry.
On your journey you will eventually feel a need for a deeper understanding of God’s word and some of His attributes. You may also feel a need to understand, not only what you believe, but why. That is a task for our Understanding team.
All of this should eventually point you to Leadership. But not just leadership; Servant Leadership. This is a calling of God that requires an understanding of leadership far removed from “executive leadership” used in the world. Our Servant Leadership team is constantly looking for individuals who have reached a point in their life where, they can be used by God, to lead His people in many different ways, to build His Kingdom.
The most important part of this journey is that you take it. The Tusculum Church, the people, want to be available for you and be used as God’s vessel to help you find a fuller, richer, happy life in God’s ministry, in our community and in our world. Let’s go!
Ministry — Handyman services, prison ministry, meals on wheels, teaching English, public school partnership, rescue mission, assisting the elderly, hospice, Stephen ministry, witnessing, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Safe Harbor, and many others.
Two By Two — Being placed with someone who understands your journey and the special needs you have to complete your ministry. Someone to share the joy and the pain.
Understanding — Small group sessions, studying together to better understand God’s plan and His will in your life. A look into theology and the basic tenets of our faith. A place where expectations and accountability become a reality.
Servant Leadership — Based on the life and ministry of Simon Peter, “the rock.” You may have been one of the greatest executive leaders in industry but God’s call is to a new style of leadership, one that leads from within the people, not ahead of them.
