Nathan’s Nuggets

August 26, 2008

Hello to all out in newsletter land.  It is time for another wonderful installment of Nathan’s Nuggets.  School is back in session and for some this might be old hat but for others it is their first time.  I remember my first day in the 1st grade.  I missed the first week of school because I had surgery to remove my tonsils.  I was already behind and didn’t really know anybody.  We had these discipline cards.  When you got in trouble teachers would pull the yellow card as a warning.  If you got in trouble again that same day they would pull the color red.  Red was bad!  So…the first day of first grade I got in trouble and the teacher pulled out the Red card.  I didn’t even get a warning.  I remember I cried and cried.  The teacher told me it was all right but I just kept crying.  Finally she said why are you so upset?  I told her she never gave me a yellow card to warn me but she pulled the red card first.  I remember she apologized to me in front of the whole class and made everyone watch her as she put back the red and gave me a yellow card.  During these next weeks take time out of your day to pray for all the parents, teachers, administrators, and kids, that compassion, fairness, and love will be a part of the curriculum this school year.  If you know of anybody that this is their first year teaching, administrating, being a student, or a parent having their baby go to school make sure that you offer them a word of encouragement and tell them that Tusculum CP church is praying for them.

Speaking of school some of our Young Adults have headed back or are entering their first year of college.  I would ask if you know someone in college to give me their information so I can contact them.  Though they are not here at Tusculum, we care about how their life is going at school.  Our Y.A. room is primed and we should start painting it by the end of this week or early next week.  We are still looking for furniture but won’t be putting anything in the room until we get done painting.  We are gathering on Wednesday nights upstairs at 7:00PM.  The gatherings are open to any Young Adult.  We will be looking at “Jesus With Dirty Feet” for about another month.  If you have any questions feel free to email me at Nathan@tusculumchurch.org

Starting September 7th we will be gathering on Sunday mornings.  We will be looking at “The Tough Sayings of Jesus” by Michael Kelley.  There is a member book and you can either give me $8.00 and I will get you one or you can go to: http://www.threadsmedia.com/index.php?/store/detail/the_tough_sayings_of_jesus/  and order a copy online.  This gathering is open to all Young Adults and we will hopefully meet in the Y.A. room.  Also starting on September 7th is the Tusculum Young Adult Community Bowling League at Tusculum Lanes.  Anyone is invited.  I have sign up sheets that give details on the League.

Don’t forget that this Sunday is Youth Sunday.  They will be leading both worship services and speaking about the Youth Mission Trip to Broken Bow, Oklahoma.  Remember to be in prayer for one another this week.

Peace,

Nathan

I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU
